Secret Star Wars and Sony State of Play

Star Wars Genesis Mod - The Starfield Experience We Deserve

Let's be real - we all wanted to love Starfield, but between the empty planets and repetitive quests, even Josh had to admit it was getting dusty in his library. Enter Star Wars Genesis, the massive mod overhaul that's basically rebuilding the entire game as a proper Star Wars RPG. As Josh excitedly read from the mod's website, this isn't just some slapped-together collection - it's a passion project with custom storylines, lore-accurate environments, and even performance improvements for potato PCs. The guys were particularly impressed by the MS Paint roadmap ("when it's that janky, you know it's real"), though Andy did raise concerns about Disney's inevitable copyright lawyers. Nick's solution? "Download it now before it gets Thanos-snapped." Smart man.

Sony State of Play June 2025: Our Complete Breakdown

Silent Hill F (The One That Actually Scared Us)
When the trailer opened with a Japanese schoolgirl in 1960s Japan instead of the usual foggy American town, we knew this wasn't your dad's Silent Hill. The guys were immediately struck by the shift to Japanese body horror - Nick called out the "ancient shrine" scenes and unnerving creature designs that made even him (our resident horror buff) squirm. That android girl? Pure uncanny valley nightmare fuel. As Josh noted, it's impressive how the team maintains that classic Silent Hill creep factor without relying on the usual fog tricks. Andy's main concern? "Please just give us more than three monster types."

Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster (The Nostalgia Bomb)
Cue the collective nerd screams when this appeared. The guys spent a solid five minutes arguing about how to pronounce "Ivalice" before even discussing the game. The dual-version approach (original 1997 gameplay vs. modernized edition with voice acting) got universal approval. Josh loved the UI updates shown in the trailer, while Andy was just relieved there's an easier difficulty option - "Because let's be honest, that original was brutal." Nick made the excellent point that unlike mainline FF games, you can't just grind your way out of trouble in Tactics, which makes the new accessibility features so important.

Metal Gear Solid Delta (The Cautious Side-Eye)
Oh boy. The guys went from hyped to concerned in about 30 seconds of that trailer. As Andy pointed out, the weird DLSS artifacting on Snake's crocodile (sorry, cayman) headpiece that they left in the final trailer says everything. "If that's the polish level pre-launch..." Nick trailed off ominously. Josh tried to stay positive - "The source material is there!" - but without Kojima's magic touch, we're all in "wait for reviews" mode now.

Romeo is a Dead Man (Pure Suda51 Chaos)
This was the trailer that had all three of us yelling "WHAT?!" at different moments. As Nick described it: "One second it's a low-fi cartoon, then it's a Giger nightmare, then suddenly you're in what looks like Returnal?" The guys agreed this had classic Killer7 and No More Heroes energy - completely unpredictable and all the better for it. Josh nailed it: "This is why we need Japanese developers taking wild swings like this."

Pragmata (The Vaporware That Won't Vaporize)
Remember that weird astronaut/girl trailer from like 5 years ago? It's back! The guys were surprised to see actual gameplay this time, even if the 2026 release date got eye rolls. Andy compared it to "Death Stranding in space," while Nick couldn't get over how much the girl looks like M3GAN. At this point, we'll believe it when we're actually installing it.

Lumines - Tetris-style puzzle game made by the developers of Tetris Effect

Romeo is a Dead Man - Time-space-traveling first person hack and slash with Suda51 and anime director/producer Ren Yamazaki
Silent Hill f - classic third-person horror game set in Japan, the f in the title is also lowercase, so you know it’s going to be fancy
Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement - 2D side scrolling hack and slash
Digimon Story Time Stranger - featuring Digimon from multiple iterations of Digimon
Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles
Baby Steps - Scale a mountain QWOP style, controlling both legs in a quirky story

Tides of Tomorrow - Pretty cool looking action adventure game for PSVR2
Sea of Remnants - a weird looking pirate game
Sword of the Sea - Another game from Giant Squid, the makers of Abzu and Journey, where you float quickly above the desert, but this one allows you to flood the desert, so now you can hover on water, and kick it with ocean life.
FBC Firebreak - Cool looking co-op shooter set in the Control universe.
First Light 007 - a new 007 game that doesn’t feature the latest James Bond from the movies.
Ghost of Yotei - This trailer shows a ninja looking at a village
Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls - Another fighting game that shows just how much better the Japanese are at taking an American property like Marvel’s Super Heroes and making them look infinitely cooler than we ever could. Also it has 3v3 fighting

Final Thoughts
This State of Play had the guys split - Josh was all about the Star Wars mod and Tactics remaster, Nick couldn't stop thinking about Silent Hill F's horror potential, and Andy's just waiting to see if Romeo is a Dead Man lives up to that bonkers trailer. One thing we all agreed on? It's nice to see Sony mixing big remasters with genuinely weird new IPs. Now if you'll excuse us, we need to go argue about Ivalice pronunciation some more.
